Automatic Alignment (Auto Align) Macro for Tekla Structures
Tekla Structures does not currently include a built-in Auto Align tool for automatically aligning parts or components to a selected reference. As a result, users must manually align beams, plates, profiles, and other model objects to faces, edges, axes, or points. This repetitive process is time-consuming and increases the risk of modeling errors, especially in large and complex BIM and steel detailing projects.
I propose the development of an Automatic Alignment (Auto Align) Macro for Tekla Structures. This macro would allow users to automatically align one or multiple selected parts to a reference face, edge, axis, or point with a single click, making everyday modeling faster, easier, and more accurate.
Suggested Features
Automatically align parts to a reference Face, Edge, Axis, or Point.
Support multiple selected parts in a single operation.
Alignment options along the X, Y, and Z axes.
User-defined Offset (Gap) values.
Option to preserve the current orientation or automatically rotate parts during alignment.
Keyboard shortcut support for a faster workflow.
Compatible with Beams, Plates, Polybeams, and other Tekla model objects.
Reduce repetitive modeling tasks with a single command.
Benefits
An Auto Align Macro would significantly improve productivity in Tekla Structures, reduce manual alignment errors, and streamline steel detailing and BIM modeling workflows. It would save valuable modeling time, improve consistency across projects, and become an essential productivity tool for Tekla users working on projects of any size.
